Zén

Established venue listing.

Zén is a Nordic-Japanese tasting-menu restaurant on Bukit Pasoh Road by chef Björn Frantzén, opened in Singapore in 2018 as an offshoot of his Stockholm restaurant Frantzén. The current MICHELIN Guide Singapore (2026 edition) lists Zén with Three Stars, matching the restaurant's own claim of having held three stars since 2021. Its official site describes an eight-course neo-Nordic, seafood-leaning tasting menu with Japanese influences, served across a three-floor shophouse.

Worth it for / Skip if

Worth it forknowing the bill before you go — the venue publishes S$450 to S$620 a head across the items on record; a table you can lock in — seats are booked through restaurantzen.com; arriving by train — the record puts it 3 minutes on foot from Outram Park MRT.

Skip ifS$450 a head before drinks is above what the meal is worth to you today; you are deciding at the door: the record carries a booking route, not a walk-in policy.

Every clause above is drawn from a named field in this venue's record — a published price, a booking route, the verified hours — and nothing else.

What it costs

The venue publishes S$450 to S$620 across the items on record. No service-charge or GST note is recorded against every priced row, so no all-in figure is estimated here.

Two people, one item each from the list above, no drinks: budget S$900–S$1240. That is arithmetic on the published prices, not a quoted package.

The longer version

Zén holds three MICHELIN Stars in the Guide's 2026 Singapore selection, whose inspectors single out the onion course as a tour de force. Major Foodie, publishing his own itemised bill, found the multi-floor tasting menu fair value for the quality of Japanese produce used. Travels for Stars scored it 18 out of 20 while describing the experience as safer than Frantzen in Stockholm. Iternitty, reviewing a December 2024 dinner, admired an extreme level of precision but reported lapses in service, concluded that Zen will always be the little brother, and answered no to returning and to value for money. That split is why the venue carries WORTH A LOOK rather than a top-band stamp.

Opening hours

Day-by-day hours are not verified for this venue. The venue's own summary reads: Open for lunch and dinner, Tuesday to Saturday (per official site; exact daily times not published). Hours are published here only once a dated source has been read for the whole week, so a partial week is never shown as a full one.

Why Zén scores 7.7

WORTH A LOOK · band 7.0–8.4 (base 7.5)

The Forkin Evidence Score is a transparent calibration of the published evidence behind this venue's editorial stamp — not a personal dining rating, and never derived from Google data. It starts from the stamp's base value, applies the five evidence adjustments below, then clamps the result inside the stamp's band.

Editorial stamp

WORTH A LOOK

Confidence: medium

Forkin desk assessment of attributable public coverage — not a personal dining review.

Four countable exact-outlet evaluations, but they diverge: the most recent independent review concluded the meal was too expensive and offered nothing new, and the 2022 coverage already described the experience as safer than its Stockholm parent. Unanimity is absent, so the top band is withdrawn while MICHELIN's three stars keep critic calibre at major.

Last assessed 14 August 2026 · 4 linked substantive sources

Caveat: Stamp reduced from FORKIN WORTH IT because the favourable view is not unanimous: Iternitty, which declares that it pays its own way, would not return and judged the meal poor value. The previously cited Tatler Asia review could not be retrieved for verification of date or treatment and is not used. Two of the four countable sources date from 2022; the current anchor is the MICHELIN Guide Singapore 2026 selection and Iternitty's February 2025 review of a December 2024 dinner. Major Foodie's independence rests on the article stating the writer's own bill total; there is no separate publisher-level policy declaration.
