Privacy Policy

Overview

We use information supplied through our contact and newsletter forms to respond to requests and operate those services. We do not sell personal information. Contact us at hello@forkinworthit.com about privacy questions.

Analytics

Every page on this site loads Google Analytics 4 (property G-JQMEEQPMYC), which we use to count visits and see which listings and guides are actually read. It records the pages you view, the site or search that referred you, your approximate location derived from your IP address, and your device and browser type. That information is processed by Google, whose handling of it is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.

Two Google Analytics features are switched off in our configuration. Google Signals is off, so your visit is not linked to a signed-in Google account or followed across your devices. Ad personalisation is off, so your visit is not made available for advertising. We run no advertising on this site and we do not use analytics data to build a profile of any individual reader.

Cookies and browser storage

Google Analytics sets first-party cookies in your browser — named _ga and _ga_ followed by the property identifier — so a repeat visit can be told apart from a new one. They expire two years after they are set unless you clear them sooner. These are the only cookies this site sets, and the site works normally without them.

Separately, the Save button keeps your saved list in your browser's own local storage, under the key fwi-saved. It never leaves your device and is never sent to us, so we cannot see what you have saved and it does not follow you to another browser or phone. Clearing your browser's site data removes it.

Instagram embeds

A listing embeds Instagram posts only where we hold a verified permalink from the venue's own official account. Each post is embedded through Instagram's own player, so your browser contacts Instagram directly when such a page loads, and Instagram may receive your IP address and set its own cookies under its own policy. We never copy or rehost Instagram images.

A listing with no verified post on record embeds nothing, and contacts Instagram only if you choose to follow a link to the account.

Google Maps

Venue pages may retrieve and display live Google Maps place information, including a rating, rating count and a link to Google Maps. That lookup runs on our server rather than in your browser, so showing it does not disclose your visit to Google. Google's handling of information is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.

We do not retain Google review text or Google rating data from these live lookups. Each is fetched fresh for the page you are reading and not stored.

Your choices

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, which stops the analytics cookies described above without affecting the rest of the site. Google also publishes a browser add-on that opts you out of Google Analytics on every site that uses it.

Under Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act you may ask what personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, and withdraw consent you have previously given. Information you send through the contact and newsletter forms is kept until you ask us to remove it. Write to hello@forkinworthit.com for any of these.
