Why Shang Palace scores 9.2
FORKIN WORTH IT · band 8.5–9.5 (base 8.8)
The Forkin Score is a transparent calibration of the published evidence behind this venue's editorial stamp — not a personal dining rating, and never derived from Google data. It starts from the stamp's base value, applies the five evidence adjustments below, then clamps the result inside the stamp's band.

FORKIN WORTH IT
Confidence: highForkin desk assessment of attributable public coverage — not a personal dining review.
Six independent exact-outlet assessments survive, spanning 2015 to 2026 and including a current MICHELIN Guide inspector page, a 2026 Straits Times assessment and two Business Times features. The weight and calibre of favourable coverage support the top band; a mixed 2024 review prevents a unanimity reading and holds the score below the previous 9.4.
What public coverage says
Shang Palace holds a MICHELIN Guide restaurant page whose inspector assessment praises hard-to-find old Cantonese classics, crisp-skinned chicken and slow-boiled soups, and The Straits Times assessed it favourably in January 2026. Business Times, PinkyPiggu and Seth Lui add further independent support across the years. The one dissenting voice, The Ordinary Patrons in 2024, found several dishes plainer than their menu photographs and the dim sum merely 'not bad', which is why the record stops short of unanimity.

The MICHELIN restaurant page carries no byline date and is counted under desk ruling B9-R1, which derives its currency from the live Guide selection; no distinction level is asserted here because the star display could not be independently confirmed at the desk. Two counted sources date from 2015 and 2018 and are retained for weight rather than currency. This record has no listing page; it publishes through guide entries only.
