Why Common Man Coffee Roasters scores 7.2

WORTH A LOOK · band 7.0–8.4 (base 7.5)

The Forkin Score is a transparent calibration of the published evidence behind this venue's editorial stamp — not a personal dining rating, and never derived from Google data. It starts from the stamp's base value, applies the five evidence adjustments below, then clamps the result inside the stamp's band.

WORTH A LOOK

Confidence: low

Forkin desk assessment of attributable public coverage — not a personal dining review.

Re-evidenced 17 Aug 2026. Both previously cited reviews date from August 2013, within weeks of opening, and are now reclassified as stale lineage context. One countable source replaces them: The Ordinary Patrons, 8 Feb 2023, on the exact 22 Martin Road outlet. That publisher positively declares it publishes no paid or sponsored posts, has never accepted media-tasting invitations, and visits anonymously. Its assessment is favourable but thin. The outlet has not relocated — it remains the Martin Road flagship. Single-source, provisional, low confidence.

What public coverage says

The Ordinary Patrons’ February 2023 visit to the Martin Road flagship describes a destination cafe for coffee drinkers in the Mohamed Sultan area, busy at peak hours, and a comfortable place to catch up over a well-brewed cup, with friendly and helpful service. The same review discloses that the croissants are bought in from Tiong Bahru Bakery rather than baked in house.

Last assessed 17 August 2026 · 1 linked substantive source

Caveat: Single countable source: provisional low-confidence stamp, disclosed as required. That source is a light visit — two coffees and one bought-in croissant — so it evaluates the coffee programme and the room rather than the kitchen. The score is set low in the band accordingly. Both reviews previously relied on (The Ranting Panda and DanielFoodDiary, both August 2013) are now reclassified as stale: they describe the cafe within weeks of its 2013 opening and cannot evidence a 2026 assessment. Retained as dated lineage context. Relocation checked and cleared: the outlet is still the flagship at 22 Martin Road, Singapore 239058. rubbisheatrubbishgrow (2013) and angieisagirl (2016) are stale; bellyup.sg, filternotes.com and urbandogowner are directory or affiliate-parameter pages, not attributable independent editorial assessment. None counted. This venue has no published Forkin listing page (known orphan score); its score renders only in the two brunch/cafe guides and rankings.
